Over 40 Indian and Pakistani celebrities, including various Bollywood stars, have agreed to play a 20-over cricket match at a stadium in Dubai Sports City on May 27th.

Announcing the event, Bollywood actor Sohail Khan said it was designed to help raise awareness for a humanitarian organisation, Being Human, which his family set up in India. The Dubai Autism Centre is also a charity partner.

Mr Khan's brother and fellow Bollywood star Salman will also participate, as will Pakistani fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar. The match will be followed by a gala dinner the next evening.

Commenting on the event, Haider Ali Mirza, the managing director at Cynosure, the organiser, said: "T20 is gaining popularity and it is always good to get India and Pakistan, the old rivals, together. Salman Khan has a good band of fans here too, so we have everything covered."

There are now plans to export the celebrity tournament across the world.
