A special inauguration ceremony has been held to mark the launch of Ras Al Khaimah's latest and most exclusive resort, Banyan Tree Al Wadi.
The luxury desert resort is described as an "oasis of indulgence", featuring spa facilities, a private beach club and an 18-hole championship golf course.
In addition, 60 hectares of the 100-hectare site are given over to a nature reserve where guests can interact with local desert wildlife such as Arabian gazelles, camels and oryxes.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by members of the Al Qasimi royal family, stakeholders, members of the media and Ho Kwon Ping, executive chairman of Banyan Tree Hotels and Resorts.
Mr Ho used his welcome speech to thank Khater Massaad, executive chairman of Rakeen Development, for being a visionary partner in the resort project.
Meanwhile, it was reported this week that Oman Air, the national carrier of the Sultanate of Oman, will begin services between Muscat, the capital of the sultanate, and Ras Al Khaimah next month.
