The luxury Canadian hotelier Four Seasons is to open a new business hotel on Sowwah Island in the heart of Abu Dhabi's central business district.
Mubadala Development Company and Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts confirmed their partnership for the new hotel which, they say, will occupy a prime waterfront location next to Sowwah Square, the island's flagship commercial development and the new headquarters of the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange.
The hotel, which is due to open in 2013, will feature 200 rooms and 125 residences, as well as a full suite of conference and meeting facilities, restaurants, an elegant rooftop pool and a full service spa, all set alongside a 150-metre long waterfront promenade. It will be Four Seasons' first property in the UAE.
Scott Woroch, executive vice-president of worldwide development for Four Seasons, said: "We look forward to welcoming our guests from the Middle East and throughout the world to our new hotel in this vibrant district of a city in rapid evolution."
Mubadala was established by the Abu Dhabi government with the aim of securing long-term, capital-intensive investments for the emirate.
