The luxury car brand Audi is becoming increasingly popular among Abu Dhabi's affluent citizens, figures show.
New car sales at Audi Abu Dhabi rose by 31.7 per cent in the first quarter of 2010 compared to the same period last year, Gulf News reported.
Andrew Hellyar, brand manager at Audi Abu Dhab, said the dealership's strong sales figures were reflected in Audi's overall global performance. The firm recorded its strongest first quarter ever, with worldwide sales between January and March 2010 reaching about 264,100.
"Audi Abu Dhabi expects the growth curve to rise in the second quarter. However, we anticipate more enhanced growth in market share when we receive the new Audi A8 towards the end of the year," added Mr Hellyar.
The news provider noted that the biggest sellers at Audi Abu Dhabi were the remastered new generation Audi Q7 and the A6 in the sedan category.
Meanwhile, the recent GCC Investor Sentiment Index by the investment bank SHUAA Capital recorded a massive gain of 15.2 points, which was almost entirely driven by a growth in positive investor sentiment towards the UAE.
