Abu Dhabi Ports Company (ADPC) has awarded a major construction contract in excess of AED 300 million for the development of an electrical power network at its Khalifa Port & Industrial Zone (KPIZ) project in Taweelah.

The contract with Larsen & Toubro will provide the main power supply for the entire phase-IA of Khalifa Port.

Located between the cities of Abu Dhabi and Dubai in Taweelah, KPIZ is designed to be a multi-purpose facility which, upon completion, will feature a world-scale container and industrial port as well as over 100 square kilometres of industrial, commercial, educational and residential free zones.

"KPIZ is a feature of the Abu Dhabi Vision 2030 and will play a major role in the emirate's industrial and economic diversification by serving as a key hub for large scale industrial investments serviced by a world class port, transport and other infrastructure facilities and services," said ADPC.

Work by Larsen & Toubro is due to begin immediately and is scheduled for completion by May 2012.

Earlier this month, a total of 255 exhibitors from 36 countries featured at this year's Cityscape real estate convention in Abu Dhabi.

There’s never been a better time to invest in Dubai, say industry heavyweights heading to this month’s Cityscape Global Conference. Invest in your Future - Click here to learn more.
