The UAE is leading the way in entrepreneurial development in the Arab world by creating a culture of innovation and initiative, a seminar hosted by the British Council has claimed.
According to Melanie Relton, the British Council's regional vocational education manager for the Middle East, the UAE has created "an ideal business ambience" that encourages entrepreneurship among both nationals and expatriates through flexible legislation, tax-free environments, government support and ample opportunities across the IT, tourism, trade, healthcare, management consultancy and banking sectors.
The seminar, which was held in association with Edexcel at Yas Rotana Hotel in Abu Dhabi, also found that the promotion of business opportunities in the UAE had resulted in "a remarkable increase in job creation".
Mark Andrews, Middle East regional director for Edexcel, said the company was piloting its Effective Behaviours for Work programme in the UAE to further support the development of entrepreneurial skills in young people.
Emirates Business 24/7 recently reported on a study by the World Travel & Tourism Council which claimed that the UAE will generate more travel and tourism jobs over the coming decade than any other country.
