Dubai International Airport accounted for almost half of all air traffic movements in the UAE last month, new figures show.
A report by the General Civil Aviation Authority revealed that all airports in the UAE recorded total air traffic movements of 47,800 last month, - an increase of 12.7 per cent on the same month last year, the Khaleej Times reported.
Dubai International ranked top with 21,847 air traffic movements, which represented almost 45.7 per cent of total UAE air traffic movements.
Meanwhile, Abu Dhabi saw 7,128 flights in February, or 15 per cent of the UAE total.
The report was consistent with January data when Dubai also topped the list with 24,338 air traffic movements, or almost 47 per cent of all air traffic movements in the UAE.
Last month, Dubai International announced that it saw a 17 per cent rise in passenger traffic in January compared to a year ago.
In total, the airport handled 3.86 million passengers in the month compared to 3.3 million in January 2009.
