Authorities in the UAE are seeking to promote the cause of health and safety within the construction sector.
The Municipality of Abu Dhabi has issued a circular to all companies and entities engaged in the construction of buildings and infrastructure to adhere to rigorous standards of public health, safety and environment.
According to the authority, the circular stresses the importance of clearing roads and pavements bordering construction sites.
"The Municipality of Abu Dhabi is keen on providing a healthy and safe environment for residents, while upholding the modern and advanced appearance of roads and pavements, particularly at areas neighbouring construction sites," commented Salah Awad Al Sarraj, acting executive director of the Urban Planning Division.
The news comes as the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) this week said it had begun a new oil cable replacement project in a bid to increase the reliability and operational efficiency of its grids.
DEWA said the project involved replacing 132KV oil cables with other, up-to-date cables as a precautionary measure to ensure an uninterrupted supply to all consumers.
