Northrop Grumman Park Air Systems, a Europe-based air traffic management subsidiary of Northrop Grumman Corporation, has agreed a deal to supply communication, navigation and surveillance systems for the recently opened Al Maktoum International Airport in Jebel Ali, Dubai.
The deal covers equipment valued at more than $16 million including ground movement radar, voice communication control systems , very high frequency radios (VHF) and instrument landing systems.
Al Maktoum International, which began cargo operations earlier this year, is set to become the world's largest airport when it is fully completed.
"The contracts for Al Maktoum International have consolidated our position in the Gulf region as the premier supplier of communications, navigation and surveillance systems and services," said Eldar Hauge, managing director of Northrop Grumman Park Air Systems Norway.
"We congratulate Dubai on the opening of Al Maktoum and look forward to continuing our successful co-operation as the airport expands towards becoming the largest in the world."
Al Maktoum International is the centrepiece of the $33 billion Dubai World Central mega-project.
