Dubai will host one of the world's greatest firework displays on New Year's Eve (December 31st) to encourage visitors to consider the city as a top destination for the annual global celebration.
The world's tallest building, Burj Khalifa, will be host to the display, as fireworks will encompass the structure as seen in the past with the Sydney Opera House and the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
It will also host the New Year's Eve Gala for guests to the city.
Ahmad Al Matrooshi, managing director of Emaar Properties which owns the building, commented: "The Burj Khalifa New Year's Eve gala is our tribute to the celebratory spirit of Dubai, home to over 200 nationalities, and a truly global city. The celebrations will put the international spotlight on the city, and drive the destination as the must-visit place for New Year's Eve celebrations."
Earlier this month, a UAE Tourism Report from Business Monitor International found that Dubai's tourism sector is set to increase in 2011 and benefit from global industry pick-up.
