Dubai hotel to open on New Year's Day
A new hotel for Dubai tourists is to have its grand opening on New Year's Day.

Movenpick Hotel Deira will welcome its first guests through to Dubai's commercial hub, Deira.

It will provide affordable upscale accommodation, primarily for business travellers, but also for the increasing number of tourists coming to the emirate.

Located on the north side of Dubai Creek in the heart of Old Dubai, it has 216 rooms and becomes the first hotel to open in the region in 2011.

"While the greater Dubai has been on a building boom Deira's hospitality sector has been somewhat stagnant and we mean to fill this void by bringing in some new blood," commented the hotel's general manager Michael Nugent.

It was reported yesterday (December 30th) that Dubai saw a six per cent increase in hotel guest numbers between January and September 2010 compared to the same period in 2009, signalling rising demand for hotel rooms in the region.
