Bloomingdales, one of the world's most iconic shopping outlets, has opened a new store in Dubai.
The retail giant, which is best known for its New York store, has 40 branches within the US and the new venture in Dubai is the first to be launched outside the country. The project was a joint effort between Al Tayer Insignia and Macy's Inc.
Located within the Dubai Mall, the 200,000 sq ft store is aiming to replicate the experience of shopping within its Manhattan branch. Items on sale include fashion, jewellery and home wear.
Michael Gould, chairman and chief executive officer of Bloomingdales, told Arabian Business: "It's not shopping, it's theatre... We appeal to a younger, more contemporary audience and we’re a store that preaches approachability."
World-famous brands which will be on offer at the Dubai store include Gucci, Jimmy Choo and Yves Saint Laurent. Fashion designer Alexander McQueen has also designed a range exclusive to Bloomingdales called McQ.
Dubai is already known as a world-class centre for fashion and it was recently announced that Victoria Beckham and Chanel designer Karl Largerfeld may be teaming up to design a new luxury hotel in the area, according to reports in the Daily Mail.
