The Abu Dhabi Yacht Show, which opens today (February 25th), is proof of the emirate's commitment to becoming a serious international marine leisure destination, a tourism official has said.
Sheikh Sultan Bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, chairman of Abu Dhabi's tourism authority, claimed the event presents "fertile ground for new business opportunities in what is clearly an emerging sector within Abu Dhabi's expanding tourism and leisure proposition", WAM news agency reported.
The show, which runs until February 27th, will feature 140 exhibitors representing the biggest firms in the international marine industry as well as 30 of the latest "superyachts".
Sheikh Sultan said that Abu Dhabi's Yas Marina and the infrastructure on Yas Island demonstrated the emirate's ability to deliver world-class infrastructure and facilities.
He added that Abu Dhabi is "a compelling proposition for superyacht owners as a berthing destination of choice".
This week it was also announced that the Dubai International Boat Show, which begins next month, will feature 13 global launches of new luxury boats and yachts.
