The Dubai Sports Complex is on track for completion ahead of its hosting of the World Swimming Championships next month, it has been confirmed.
A delegation from the Dubai Sports Council inspected construction work at the complex and stated it would be finished in time for the championships on December 15th-19th 2010, uae-sport-guide.com reported.
The Dubai Sports Complex is designed to accommodate 15,000 seats and host ten types of Olympic-standard sport.
Commenting on the facility, the council delegation suggested it would mark a dramatic step forward for the UAE in various sporting fields.
"The complex is also expected to be the greatest aquatic centre all over the world," it added.
Situated off Dubai Bypass Road, the stadium, which was developed by the General Projects Department of the Dubai Municipality, covers 61 acres of land and also has a group of restaurants, an external garden and public parking areas for 1,500 cars.
The complex's aquatic centre incorporates an Olympic standard 50-metre pool as well as another 50-metre pool with a moveable floor.
