Dubai’s Hotel Market continues to thrive, with investment from some international players adding to the growth of the sector. According to a new report by industry body Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL), this year saw hotel launches from global names such as Ibis by Accor, Express by Holiday Inn, Premier Inn and Easy Hotels.
The JLL Q3 2010 report also shows that although luxury hotels dominate the mix, with 60% in the four and five star category, the first nine months of the year also saw the market broaden its scope to include six budget hotels. In addition, Dubai witnessed a rise in homegrown brands, such as Centro by Rotana and Landmark Group’s Citymax. The mid range hotel sector is also forecast to grow, with groups such as Landmark announcing Dh1 billion plans to launch 12 mid market hotels in the UAE over the next couple of months. Despite the economic challenges of the last few years, the report is testament to the buoyancy of Dubai’s hotel sector. The First Group will soon be adding its own names to this vibrant industry, with the future opening of Metro Central and Grand Central Hotel Apartments, located within the Tecom district of ‘New Dubai.’
