There remains huge growth potential in the Middle East's low-cost aviation sector, flydubai's chief executive officer has said.
Speaking at the annual World Low Cost Airlines Congress in London this week, Ghaith Al Ghaith explained that flydubai's success in the region was partly down to its policy of offering customers options and the freedom to choose which services they want.
"Passengers like the idea of being offered options; they like being able to save money by not bringing checked baggage for instance," he said, adding: "In just one year, the concept has been so well accepted that 44 per cent of our passengers capitalised on our lowest fares by travelling with just hand luggage."
Mr Al Ghaith also highlighted the fact that flydubai's rapid growth and success had been recognised by the financing community, with the airline's latest round of financing reaping offers for more than 80 aircraft.
The comments come as Dubai International Airport yesterday (September 30th) celebrated its golden anniversary following 50 years of impressive expansion.
