Dubai's tourism department has reached out to the Spanish market at the 2010 edition of FITUR, the Spanish International Travel and Tourism Fair, which was held in Madrid this month.
The Dubai Stand had 15 co-participants – an increase on last year - which included Emirates Airlines.
Europe has been a traditionally strong source market for attracting tourists to Dubai over the years and the delegates were keen to forge links with Spanish industry leaders.
Abdullah bin Suwaidan, deputy director of overseas promotions and inward missions at Dubai's tourism department, said: "Participation in this major tourism fair was very fruitful since Spain is a key market for us with great growth potential. This was our 17th year participation in FITUR and that speak volumes about the importance we attached to this market."
Mr bin Suwaidan presented a Dubai souvenir to King Juan Carlos I of Spain and his wife when they visited the Dubai stand.
Emirates Airlines, the international airline of the UAE, is due to start flights between Dubai and Madrid from the beginning of August.
