Those planning to buy property in Dubai may soon be able to find out about road and transport developments by using Twitter, it has been revealed.
The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced plans to use the social networking site in order to communicate with the public more effectively.
Dubai RTA already shares information via Facebook and YouTube.
Peyman Younes Parham, the director of the organisation's marketing and corporate communications department, commented: "Opening up communication channels through Blogger and Twitter portals is part of the extensive media initiatives and campaigns currently running at the RTA spanning several media outlets such as daily newspapers, radios and television channels."
He added that social networking sites play a vital role in providing the public with information regarding the latest road infrastructure developments and succeed in opening a two-way communication channel.
The RTA is reportedly the first government to take this approach to take this modern approach.
In related news, the organisation announced earlier this month the movement of trucks will be timed in order to ease traffic during the holy month of Ramadan.
