Al Manar Mall in Ras Al Khaimah, one of the first shopping centres to be developed in the northern emirates, is set for a AED500 million refurbishment.
Speaking to Emirates Business, the mall's manager Benoy Kurien said that due to intensified competition, the centre will be transformed in the coming months to provide a more complete shopping experience for those with property in Ras Al Khaimah and elsewhere in the emirates.
He said that an additional two floors of retail space will be added to the mall, creating 100,000 square metres of leasable space in total.
"The design of the re-development has been finalised and tenants are asking for more space. The owners have agreed for the renovation project," he said.
Al Manar opened its doors to the public in September 2000, the first centre to provide commercial and recreational to the owners of property in Ras Al Khaimah.
Renowned for its striking and chic architecture, the mall is home to more than 120 retailers.
