The Emirates Green Building Council (GBC) has elected a new set of officers to monitor property for sale in Dubai and elsewhere in the UAE for their commitment to sustainability.
During a meeting on July 4th, the new members of the group vowed to uphold the Green Building code and promote energy efficiency in property throughout the emirates.
Chairman-elect Jeff Willis said that the GBC has already made great strides since its establishment in 2006, adding that the new council officers will continue to pursue pioneering advancement in the field of sustainability.
"We know that the council and our professional members are best placed to provide the expertise, leadership and support for sustainable initiatives across the UAE and we will work with all elements of the sector to champion continual improvement," he added.
Within seven months of its creation, the Emirates GBC had heralded the construction of the District Cooling Chiller Plant, which was the first building in the emirates to achieve accreditation from LEED.
