The electronics sector will be flooding Dubai in October as it looks to capitalise on the lucrative market opportunities in the UAE.
Well ahead of the Gitex Technology Week being held at the Dubai international Convention and Exhibition Centre for five days from October 18th, the world's biggest names in electronic goods have confirmed their attendance at the event.
Sony, Panasonic, Seagate, Ford and Promate have all signed up to the expo, securing themselves an audience with consumers and resellers in a market that has witnessed an impressive rise in retail spending.
Middle East Retail Academy award-winning retailer Genius has also confirmed its attendance.
According to statistics from the UAE Ministry of Economy, consumer spending in the Emirates rose 32 per cent in 2008, with AED483 billion worth of goods and services purchased during the year.
"Consumer sentiment across the region remains strong, especially in the UAE, where tech-savvy consumers are some of the biggest spenders of electronics products in the world," said Helal Saeed Almarri, chief executive of Dubai World Trade Centre.
