The Ras Al Khaimah Free Trade Zone (RAK FTZ) has taken home the coveted Industrial Area of the Year at the 2009 Supply Chain and Transport Awards.
At a lavish ceremony at the Mina A'Salam in Dubai, the trade zone was recognised as a regional leader in the freight forwarding industry and commended for providing outstanding commercial incentives for international businesses.
Oussama El Omari, chief executive of RAK FTZ, said that it was great honour to stand out among such high-calibre competitors.
"We aim to strive to be better in everything we do, especially in providing world-class facilities within a great business platform and at the same time adhering to environment, health and safety regulations," he said.
The first Supply Chain and Transport Awards were held in 2007 and this year's ceremony celebrated excellence in 16 distinct fields covering the logistics, sea freight and air cargo sectors, with the winners chosen by a panel of specialist judges.
