His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, vice-president and prime minister of the UAE and ruler of Dubai, has officially established Hamdan bin Mohammed e-University by royal decree.
The new facilities will include specialised institutes, scientific research centres and colleges offering courses in a spectrum of academic disciplines.
Among the objectives of the new facilities is the pursuance of a comprehensive programme of study that is responsive to the demands of 21st century technological innovation, while also promoting e-learning and improving access to education throughout the Arab world.
Inaugurating the university this week, Sheikh Mohammed appointed the crown prince of Dubai Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum as chancellor of the institution.
