Property prices in areas served by the Dubai Metro are rising ahead of the inauguration of the landmark transport project.
According to the National, there has been a sharp increase in activity and interest in areas such as Jumeirah Lake Towers, which is close to the station on Sheikh Zayed Road.
Real estate firms cited by the paper have reported that Dubai property for sale in this area is selling at a 6.5 per cent premium to property further from the Metro stations.
"For residential [sales] we're seeing a higher demand because of accessibility to the Metro, but this is only for properties situated almost directly outside a station," confirmed a spokesperson for Landmark Properties, a Dubai property brokerage.
In other developments, the Road and Transport Authority has this week announced that it is set to buy 518 Citea buses to further improve public transport services in the emirate.
