Readers of Business Traveller have voted the city's airport as the best in the Middle East, as well as their favourite in the area for duty free shopping.
The award was given based on the standard of customer service offered - especially concerning baggage handling and check-in - airport facilities and duty free shopping.
Dubai International airport finished second to Changi Airport in Singapore in the world's best category.
Paul Griffiths, chief executive of the hub in Dubai, said: "While all awards and recognitions evoke a sense of pride at Dubai Airports, the Business Traveller Award is truly special because it is the travellers - our customers - who choose the winner."
Dubai Duty Free offers 5,400 square metres of shopping and was the first of its kind in the Middle East when established in 1983.
