Dubai is getting ready for its summer shopping festival, which will have 13 main sponsors.
The sponsors of Dubai Summer Surprises 2009 (DSS) were praised by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, AME Info reports.
He paid tribute to the "relentless commitment of the private sector towards supporting Dubai's government activities" and said that supporting DSS helped to keep the region in its strong business position.
DSS 2009 will run from June 11 to August 14, a total of 65 days.
Sponsors include Coca Cola ME, Dubai World Trade Centre, Emirates Airline and Emaar Malls Group and were announced by the Dubai Shopping Festivals Office.
It will run under the catchphrase "Surprising Dubai".
Two brothers from London, Dan and Nathen Furlong, have recently set up an ice-cream van business in Dubai.
While the vans - which play music to announce their arrival - are traditional in Britain, they are a new addition for Dubai.
The brothers initially planned to market it to expats but the service has become popular with the wider community.
