The British University in Dubai (BUiD) has been commended for its contribution to UAE society at the prestigious Tecom Investments Pearl Awards held in the emirate yesterday (May 27th).
Since 2003, the institution has provided more than 300 scholarships to its students, with Emiratis accounting for 50 per cent of all those admitted to the programmes of study covered at the university.
Tecom handed BUiD the Contribution to UAE Society award in recognition of this and many other achievements, including the international reputation it has established in the fields of business, education, engineering, informatics, and human resource management.
"BUiD is honoured to be recognised as a leading contributor to UAE society and a trusted partner of Tecom,' said Dr Abdullah Alshamsi, vice-chancellor of the university.
"We are committed to supporting the aspirations of the Dubai Government and the UAE," he added.
Last week, the university proudly announced that its 2008/09 graduating class was the most accomplished to date.
