Tunnelling work on both the Red and Green lines of the Dubai Metro has been completed by the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority.
When complete, the Dubai Metro will stretch for a total of 74.6 km, with 12.6 km of this distance being underground. The metro network could prove to help people considering buying property in Dubai with their daily commutes.
Adnan al Hammadi, director of construction of the Dubai Metro at the Roads and Transport Authority's Rail Agency, said: "The metro track goes underground in the central business district on both sides of the Dubai Creek and runs under the buildings, road corridors and also passes under the creek waters in two locations."
Work on the completion of the Dubai Metro is on schedule, he added, noting that the Red Line should open to the public on September 9th 2009, while the Green Line will be opened next year.
