The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry has hosted its first roundtable to discuss the future of corporate social responsibility (CSR) in the emirate.
At the event held earlier today (April 27th), chief executives from Dubai's biggest companies convened to discuss the concept of CSR and investigate successful social initiatives.
Industry heads representing supply chain and logistics, pharmaceuticals and health care suppliers were all in attendance, as were delegates from the Dubai Property Society and the Construction and Auditor's Business Group.
"The final outcome of this Conference will assist our business community to evolve as a social responsibility seeking community, capable of defining its own corporate responsibility framework," said Hisham Al Shirawi, second vice-chairman of the Dubai Chamber.
He added that such a strategy is integral to promoting sustainable business growth in the emirate.
In February, the chamber launched the CSR Leadership Series 2009, building on the success of the awareness campaign in 2008.
