Dubai is one of the top five destinations in the world for retailers, CB Richard Ellis has announced.
According to the organisation, the emirate attracts 60 per cent of the world's most successful and accomplished retailers.
The state's emergence as a global retail haven - Dubai trailed only London, Paris and New York in the percentage of global brands represented - could be attributed to the unprecedented economic boom seen in recent years.
Emiratis' appetites for international brands were also said to be a strong contributing factor, as was its network of franchise partners.
Mark Morris Jones, director of retail for Abu Dhabi at CB Richard Ellis, said that Abu Dhabi was also fast becoming an epicentre for global brands.
"Its population is one of the most affluent in the region and as the city continues to grow, attracting a flux of foreign workers and tourists," he said.
CB Richard Ellis has recently expanded its presence in the Middle East with new offices in Bahrain.
