The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced that it will build an additional 18 pedestrian bridges throughout Dubai and a further 29 overpasses as part of the Dubai Metro project.
In a statement, the group said that the infrastructural investment project would help to improve accessibility and safety in the emirate.
"There will be 18 pedestrian bridges as part of Dubai Metro Red Line Project. These pedestrian bridges will have access to both Metro and Non-Metro users," confirmed an official from the RTA.
Improved public accessibility may also serve as an additional incentive for those looking to buy property in Dubai.
The Dubai Metro footbridges will be open 24 hours a day and will be air conditioned to maximise public convenience and comfort for residents and tourists.
The RTA has also announced that Dubai Taxi is making wide-reaching improvements to its services in line with customer demand, making it even easier to get around the emirate.
