The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced that it has trained around 75 per cent of the bus drivers needed to service the municipal school bus system.
At a recent meeting of the RTA and the Public Transport Agency (PTA), it was also revealed that the Licensing Agency has started issuing registration cards for school buses which are fully compliant with new standards established by the transport authorities.
Such progress may be of interest to those families with children who are considering buying property in Dubai.
Essa Abdul-Rahman Al Dosari, chief executive of the PTA, said that the newly trained drivers are given an in-depth briefing on the road laws in Dubai and are taught to pursue best practice standards in safe driving.
The RTA has also recently opened the new Salama Traffic Village at Children City, Creek Park, giving young Emiratis the opportunity to learn about road safety in a fun and engaging environment.
