A 30-strong delegation of Finnish representatives has visited the Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO) as part of efforts to establish international collaboration on alternative energy development.
The DSO is a technology park which aims to provide commercial property in Dubai to companies hoping to establish a presence in the emirate.
A spokesperson for the site's operating authority expresses his pleasure at the "overwhelming response" from Finland, adding that the nation is highly regarded for its levels of expertise in engineering.
Dr Juma Al Matrooshi, senior chief officer of corporate services at the DSO Authority, says: "As a leading technology hub, DSO offers the right environment for setting up firms in the alternate energy space."
He adds that the United Arab Emirates are committed to the future of green technologies, with this collaboration likely to focus on solar energy.
Representatives of the DSO Authority were recently forging relationships across Europe, with the development represented at the CeBIT 2009 IT expo in Hannover, Germany.
