Dubai is turning heads at the Gulf Incentives, Business Travel and Meetings (GIBTM) conference, which kicked off today (March 31st) in Abu Dhabi.
The exhibition was opened this morning by His Highness Sheikh Sultan Bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, chairman of Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority and the Tourism Development and Investment Company, who toured the exhibition in the company of Khalid A bin Sulayem, director general of Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM).
Mr bin Sulayem said that all tourism agencies in the UAE were making a coordinated effort to maximise the growth potential in the travel sector.
"The importance that this exhibition holds is reflected in the big increase in the number of co-participants from Dubai between 2007 (30) and 2009 (57)," he added.
On Saturday (March 28th), heads of the DTCM met to discuss new initiatives to promote tourism in the emirate, with a particular focus on cooperation with the Arabian Gulf Cooperation Council.
