Dubai World chief meets Vietnam officials

The head of Dubai World Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem has met with Nguyen Tan Dung, the prime minister of Vietnam, to discuss further economic cooperation between the two countries.

At a meeting in Jebel Ali, the sultan insisted that Dubai would support Vietnam in its economic drive and would look to build upon existing trade agreements.

Mr Bin Sulayem extolled the prime minister's commitment to an "ambitious" economic growth project.

"Dubai World is proud to be part of this effort through the presence of our flagship companies there. Vietnam is a market with huge growth potential," he said.

The organisation has an active presence in Vietnam, alongside companies such as property developer Limitless, which is working on a new five-star complex overlooking the Halong Bay heritage site.

Work on the Halong Star project began in December 2007. Once it is complete, it will boast 250 five-star rooms, 85 luxury townhouses, retail and commercial space and an arts village.
