A Dubai auction of 15 number plates from distinguished, luxury motorcycles has raised AED14 million in revenue for Dubai's Road and Transport Authority (RTA) .
The event, hosted by the RTA and held at Al Mina Hall of Jumeirah Beach Hotel on December 19th, attracted more than 400 bidders, with the highest selling plate fetching AED1.52 million.
Ahmed Bahrouzyan, head of the RTA's licensing agency, said that a range of operational factors had contributed to the success of the auction including an effective marketing campaign that utilised official media support.
The auction also highlighted the diverse range of investment interests in Dubai. "Bidders hailed from various spectrums of the community and nationalities; which in itself bears a strong relevance of the continuing success of distinguished number plate auctions," said Mr Bahrouzyan.
Transport investment opportunities in Dubai are annually promoted at the Dubai Airport Show, which next year is expected to see its exhibitor attendance double, Emirates Business News has said.
