The total value of exports completed by members of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry topped AED14.5 billion in January, new figures show.
In its latest monthly report, the chamber shows that the value of exports were buoyed by a record issuance of certificates of origin, with more than 44,000 issued over the course of the month.
Meanwhile, the number of members of the chamber also grew, with 795 new members coming into the fold, while 5,900 renewed their registrations.
This last figure was up some 13 per cent on membership resubmissions in 2007.
And showing the breadth of interest in Dubai's export trade and serving as a testament to the role of Dubai as a global investment, the chamber welcomed business delegations from 24 countries over the course of the month to broker new trade agreements.
Among the countries to visit were the US, Italy, China, Poland, Indonesia, France, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Spain, Turkey and New Zealand.
The Dubai Chamber has enjoyed consistent growth since its creation in 1965 and currently has around 108,000 members.
