Today (November 13th) marks the opening of the Dubai Motorsport Festival, which is likely to be attended by a number of people with property in the UAE.
In preparation for the event, yesterday saw 80 entries visit the track for the qualifying day to secure their place in today's race.
Jonathan Simmonds, of DXB Racing SEAT, had a successful day and earned the Cytech UAE Touring Car race Class 1 pole position.
He said: "The competition in the Touring Cars is very tough and only a very special lap would get me pole. Fortunately the crew has done a great job with my car and we delivered when it mattered."
When considering today's race, he conveyed that it was not going to be easy, due to the fact that contenders Bin Hadher and Al Mutawaa would put up stiff competition.
The Dubai Autodrome which hosts the race claims it is one of the most modern and challenging tracks in the world.
Part of the Union Properties of Motorcity, it stretches 5.39 km and has six diverse configurations.
