People looking to view property for sale in Dubai may find it easier to get round the region as a result of the Metro.

According to the director of rail operation department at the Roads and Transport Authority, Ramadan Abdullah, the success of the system has helped to reduce traffic congestion.

He made this comment as the Metro celebrated the fact more than three million passengers have taken advantage of the service.

Overall, some 3,492,175 individuals used the trains in the first two months since its launch date.

Mr Ramadan said the Metro has attracted a significant number of commuters away from other forms of transport, such as cars, which are popular in Dubai.

He added: "It also contributed to easing traffic congestion and lower pollution levels from vehicles and motorbikes, preserving the environment and creating a fun travel atmosphere."

The Metro has 47 stations, nine of which are underground.
