Dubai's new Metro has transported over 1.7 million passengers in its first month, in news that may interest people looking for a Dubai property investment.

According to the emirate's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), 1,740,578 people reached their destinations via the new system since its inauguration on September 10th.

Dr Aysha Al Busmait, director of RTA customer service centres, noted the most popular stops.

"Mall of the Emirates Station topped the list in terms of the number of passengers lifted during the first month’s period," she said.

This station saw over 300,00 people alight during the month. Meanwhile, Khalid bin Al Waleed, Rashidiya and Al Ittihad stations all proved popular.

Businesses and investors looking for commercial property in Dubai may be particularly interested in the results, if the comments of one expert are taken into account.

Asteco chief executive officer Elaine Jones recently highlighted the importance of location when it comes to purchasing property in the emirate, pointing out that spots close to the Metro will prove to be increasingly popular choices.

There’s never been a better time to invest in Dubai, say industry heavyweights heading to this month’s Cityscape Global Conference. Invest in your Future - Click here to learn more.
