The Roads & Transport Authority's (RTA) construction of thousands of bicycle parking slots could be good news for those with property in the UAE.
There are currently 2,000 bays in Dubai with a further 4,000 planned for other parts of the emirate.
Aimed at encouraging cycling as an environmentally-friendly travel alternative to motoring, the measure seeks to provide "safe and smooth transport for all".
Maitha bin Adai, chief executive officer of RTA, said: "RTA has completed construction of 2000 parking slots for bicycles, 200 of which have been opened with the launch of Dubai Metro at Mall of the Emirates station, Rashidiya station, Financial Center station, Khalid bin Al Waleed station, and Al Ittihad station."
The representative added that the work was part of a comprehensive plan in the emirates, which was being focused on commercial areas.
Parking spaces are erected according to strict guidelines to assure quality, ease of use and maximum safety.
From the beginning or January to the end of June this year, the RTA was responsible for registering 85,066 vehicles in Dubai.
