Property in Ras Al Khaimah is one of the main reasons overseas investors visit the emirate - but in the coming years it also hopes to be an education hotspot.
Crown Prince and deputy ruler Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi said the location is set to be a "preferred destination" for higher learning, as is the rest of the United Arab Emirates.
"It is only through such efforts that future generations will become more powerful and learned and benefit in the long run," he was quoted as saying by Emirates Business 24/7 at the inauguration of a purpose-built campus earlier this week.
The RAK Medical and Health Sciences University is said to include lecture halls, laboratories, a library and student facilities. It also intends to offer extra-curricular activities, such as quizzes and debates.
It is located about 60 miles from Dubai and 18 miles from Sharjah, although excellent infrastructure means they are accessible by air or road.
