Importance of Greek-Arab trading underlined
Arab states have been urged to maintain their already positive trading relationship with businesses in Greece.

Speaking at the 2008 Arab-Greek Economic Forum, foreign trade director general Abdullah Al Saleh underlined the importance of accelerating relations.

He said: "Greek exports to our region have exceeded the value of its exports to major economies, proving that this country values its commercial relations with its Arab partners.

"We in turn should closely evaluate what Greece offers us in terms of trade and plan on how to accelerate our relations in this field."

The UAE has been named as one of the Greek government's top priority business partners approaching 2011.

A number of Greeks working in the United Arab Emirates work in an executive capacity in Dubai, with which it established diplomatic relations in 1971.

"The UAE in particular remains highly committed to sustaining its positive ties with Greece," Mr Al Saleh added.
