The First Group’s Triathalon team raised money for the Kanu Heart Foundation. After months of training, team members successfully completed a difficult trio of swimming, cycling and running at the Dubai Triathlon.
The Nigerian footballer and former Super Eagles Captain, who underwent major heart surgery in 1996, has worked tirelessly to help underprivileged African children with heart defects since launching the Kanu Heart Foundation in 2000. One of the charity’s major recent initiatives has been to raise money for a new forty bed cardiac center in Abuja.
Kanu joins a host of sporting celebrities on The First Team; fellow footballers Michael Owen and Andriy Shevchenko, Russian Tennis star, Svetlana Kutznetsova, Rugby player, Bryan Habana and golf professional, Sam Torrance. As well as being a brand ambassador for The First Group, Kanu is also a property owner at The Diamond in Dubai Sports City and TFG Marina Hotel in Dubai Marina.
“We are so proud of all the team’s efforts in helping to raise money for this fantastic cause. It was definitely worth all the gruelling months of training! It is an honour to have Kanu on board as a brand ambassador for The First Group and we are delighted to be able to support his own personal charity.”
