Abuja – Central Business District

Abuja's once isolated landscape has been transformed in just 20 years to what is now one of the fastest growing and most vibrant cities in the world. The Central Business District (CBD) highlights the progress and rapid expansion of the region and has served to enforce Abuja's standing as Nigeria's financial hub. With a strong and growing trade and commerce industry, Abuja is firmly on the world map as a force to be recognized. Constructed largely during the 1980s, the city was purpose built to a master plan, with a view to offering an alternative to the crowded coastal capital of Lagos. In 1991, Abuja official took the capital role, and over the last two decades has witnessed tremendous growth, some areas have experienced a surge in population of 20-30%. Abuja is now home to an estimated one million people and the growth rate is forecast to reach 3.5 million by 2015. As an established base for the Nigerian Federal Government, Abuja is also a very proud symbol of national unity. Often hailed as the best purpose built city in Africa, Abuja now has a reliable transport system, well developed roads, entertainment and leisure facilities and a burgeoning real estate industry attracting foreign investment and global attention.
