Dubai Airport records record visitor numbers

Dubai International Airport witnessed a 13.2% surge in passenger traffic in 2012. Over 57.6 million people passed through the hub, which recently overtook Hong Kong to become the third busiest airport in the world. The number surpassed official expectations for 2012 by more than 1 million people. Passenger traffic during January alone also rose by 14.6% to more than 5.5 million, up from 4.8 million in January 2012. Passenger numbers are projected to reach a staggering 98 million by 2020. The figures serve to further strengthen Dubai’s position as a global destination for tourism and business.
