Building conference gets underway in Dubai

With more and more groundbreaking construction projects being planned in the UAE, it is important that building developers work sustainably.Countries all around the world are desperate to reduce their carbon footprints and the property sector has a big part to play in this.Companies will be able to learn more about sustainable building techniques at the Middle East Advanced Building Materials Conference 2013, which got underway today (February 6th).Held at the Armani Hotel in Burj Khalifa, the event will provide hands-on guidance on the latest eco-friendly building materials, technologies and systems. The conference has been organised by the Dubai Municipality, Dubai Central Laboratory (DCL) and Middle East Dry Mix Mortar Association and it will run for two days.Head of DCL Hawa Al Bastaki said the show is an ideal opportunity for firms and public sector organisations to forge strong relationships."We believe in the importance of benefiting from expertise outside and from other successful international experiences that may contribute in strengthening Dubai's strategic position as a business destination and global market open for green materials and products," she remarked.Ms Al Bastaki predicted that up to 120 delegates - including experts and researchers - will attend the event. The demand for property investments in Dubai has risen sharply in the past 12 months or so and this has encouraged developers to erect more new houses, apartments and hotels, especially in popular areas like Downtown Dubai. With so much building work taking place, it seems the emirate is the perfect place to host a conference on sustainable construction.Dubai is clearly taking its responsibility to tackle climate change very seriously, as a series of "green courses" will take place in 2013, AMEinfo reports. The Dubai Carbon Centre of Excellence will deliver training sessions to workers in the city on how the move towards a greener economy will impact their business.A range of topics including carbon foot printing and management, energy efficient operations and renewable energy will be covered during the courses.Looking for new apartments for sale in Dubai?
