Tennis giants set to wow the crowds in Dubai

The two best tennis players on the planet are set to compete in Dubai next month.Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer will take part in the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships, which will officially get underway on February 18th.Federer will have a huge fight on his hands to defend his Dubai crown, as Djokovic is currently in a rich vein of form.The big-hitting Serbian overcame Andy Murray to win his third consecutive Australian Open title at the weekend (January 27th) and he will be looking to carry this momentum into the Dubai event.He said the victory would give him plenty of confidence throughout the rest of the season, which is bad news for his rivals.Many people are expecting a straight shootout between Djokovic and Federer, but executive vice chairman of tournament organisers Dubai Duty Free Colm McLoughlin thinks there are plenty of other top-class players who are capable of triumphing."We can look forward to some outstanding tennis, not only from Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic but from many of the other top 20 players who will be taking part in the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships," he remarked."Although they will be expected by many to reach the final, the tournament has produced many unexpected upsets in the past and no-one is certain of success."The likes of Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Juan Martin Del Potro and Tomas Berdych will also be gunning for the Dubai title.Dubai is the place to be for world-class sporting action in 2013, with a wide selection of events set to take place.The tennis extravaganza is not the only high-profile competition to be endorsed by Dubai Duty Free, as the company will also sponsor the Dubai Duty Free Darts Masters in May.Eight of the top players on the planet will head to the UAE to compete in the first leg of the Professional Darts Corporation's World Series of Darts, including current world champion Phil Taylor.
