Singapore Food Festival set to go ahead in Dubai
Travellers planning a trip to Dubai next month will be able to experience the Singapore Food Festival.Taking place between February 20th and March 3rd, the event will feature an array of competitions, tasting sessions and cooking demonstrations.Held at LuLu Hypermarkets right the way across the UAE, the festival will bring a sprinkle of East Asian culinary magic to the Middle East.Singapore cuisine is renowned for being diverse and many dishes are inspired by Chinese, Malay, Indian and British techniques and recipes.The gastronomic extravaganza is being organised by International Enterprise (IE) Singapore, the Singapore Food Manufacturers' Association and LuLu, who all feel the UAE is one of the fastest growing countries on earth and thus is an important market for Asian food."With consumers in the UAE increasingly receptive to different cuisines and tastes, Singapore has also stepped up our promotional campaign in the region," commented Lester Lu, regional director for IE Singapore in Dubai."We look forward to sharing with UAE residents the unique flavours of Singapore which we are so proud of."Celebrity chef Violet Oon is the darling of Singapore cuisine and her specialist chilli crab dish is widely considered to be one of the most inventive creations in Asia.She will be on hand to show visitors just how easy it is to rustle up tasty Singaporean meals during the festival.Dubai is renowned for its plethora of gourmet restaurants and Ms Oon is not the only famous chef to prepare delicious meals in the emirate.Indeed, tabloid! recently reported that Gordon Ramsay could be plotting a return to the city in the near future.He ran the popular Verre restaurant until 2011 and he is said to be keen on opening a new establishment in the Gulf very soon.The fiery Briton clearly has a longstanding affection for the UAE and he has fond memories of his nine years in the country. He also labelled Dubai a "fantastic city".
