UK to Dubai tourism sees Q2 rise

The number of Britons heading to Dubai on holiday rose by 11% in the second quarter of this year. According to the latest figures from the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM), hotel and hotel apartment bookings increased to 170,452 from 154,180 in 2011. UK visitors also chose to stay 5% longer, upping their average vacation to seven nights.

Self catering apartments witnessed the biggest rise in guest bookings, with year on year increases of 33% for Q2. Fully furnished apartments, such as The First Group’s latest project, TFG Marina Hotel, have become hugely popular due to their convenience, affordability and flexibility compared to a regular hotel room.
